How to Get a Chinese Visa
Foreigners can apply for the visa in the China embassy or any one of the consulates in your country. The process of application depends on the type of your visa. Regular visas like the L Visa (for tourist) and G Visa (for transit) require only several steps to obtain. Other visas like Z(for work), F Visa (for study and other nob-business activities ), J Visa (for journalists) have extra requirements.
Chinese Visa Requirements
Passport
Firstly, the remaining validate of your original passport must be beyond 180 days. Secondly, your passport must have two blank visa pages. If the data page or the photo page is spate from your passport, prepare a copy of both of them.
Visa Application Form
Download the latest version of the Visa Application Form from the official website of China embassy or consulates in your country.
Photo
One recent color passport photo (full face front view bareheaded and against a plain light colored background, approximately 48mm*33mm
Proof of legal stay or residence status
Valid certification or visa of current legal residence, employment, student status or other legal staying, issued by the authorities of the country where you are staying, is required.


How to Apply for the Chinese Visa
Step 1 - complete the Visa Application Form
Complete the Visa Application Form: a) Personal information – name, nationality, local ID, passport, current occupation, education, family members, etc. b) Travel Information – major purpose of your visit, Intended number of entries, itinerary in China, information of inviters in China. c) Other information – crime records or violation of laws, physical status, companions who share the visa, etc. d) Declaration & Signature. e) If the application form is completed by another person on the applicant's behalf, please fill out his or her information.
Step 2 - submission
Find the Visa Office of Chinese Embassy or Chinese Consulates that serves your state, then submit your Visa Application Form and necessary documents.
Notes:
1. Mail-in/online/fax applications are not accepted. You must submit the application on your own, or use an agent. But you may be summoned to the Visa Office in person for an interview if necessary.
2. You don’t have to make an appointment to submit the application or collect your visa.
Step 3 - payment and visa pick-up
After receiving the notification from the Visa Office that your application is processed and approved, go to in person the Visa Office, or let your agent to pay the visa fee and pick up your Chinese Visa. Mail-back visa service is NOT provided.
Processing Time
There are three service types of processing time for you to choose from, based on your schedule, including Regular service (4 business days); Express service (2-3 business days); Rush service (1 business day). If you are in a hurry, you can pay additional fee for express service or Rush service; otherwise, you may just wait for a longer for regular service without extra charges. By the way, the one-day rush service is available only in extreme emergencies and subject to approval by the consular officer.

Apply Chinese Visa with different numbers of visa entries, the visa fee will charge differently. Also you can pay extra fee for choosing express and rush service to speed up your visa picking up.

The above price is based on the regular service. And for Group Visa: $40 per visa for other countries’ passport holders and $120 per visa for US passport holders.
● Choosing Express service and an additional fee of $35 per visa will be charged;
● Choosing Rush service and an additional fee of $50 per visa will be charged.
Note: You must pay the visa fee once your application is approved. And the acceptable methods of payment are credit card (Visa or Master card only), money order, cashier's check or company check.
